Activism and Corporations is based off my dissertation topic: ‘Art as Activism’ and explores the increasing amount of corporate design entering into activism campaign design. In response I have created a banner system that allows activist and corporate slogans to be brought together creating awkward dystopian hybrids of uneasy statements. The design is intended to provoke conversation about the increased role of profit in social causes.
The banners themselves also contain a ‘context card’ that allows for further understanding of where the type on the banner has originated from. Mostly they are from well known companies or iconic protest designs. This context allows for the viewer to deduce further interpretation into the composition of the banners.
